Ferry Alert

Through early April, customers traveling through Colman Dock will notice construction inside the main passenger waiting area. A temporary plywood wall was installed in the center of the waiting area while a new coffee, espresso, and snack kiosk is built. Two-way public access, including ADA access, is maintained around the entire work area, and there will be no impact to terminal access doors or other locations within the terminal. Crews will work closely with terminal staff to keep things moving smoothly, and the temporary wall will be reduced or removed as soon as it’s safe, and the kiosk can be secured.

Ferry Alert

Construction is in progress on a Kitsap County ferry traffic lane project. Plan for possible weekday travel delays on State Route 104 near our Kingston terminal. Crews are installing a stop light system at Lindvog Road Northeast that detects when there is space for vehicles in the ferry line to proceed forward. They will also add kiosks that dispense boarding passes to help manage ferry traffic. We will keep you updated through rider alerts on when the stop light and boarding pass system will begin and how it will work.

Ferry Alert

We will continue trialing an updated pet policy through spring 2026. Dogs on leashes are allowed in all passenger areas during this trial period, except onboard food galleys. Other pets must be in a crate or carrier. Service animals are welcome everywhere, as required by law. Livestock must stay in appropriate enclosures at all times. We are reviewing the trial policy and will provide an update on our pet policy before summer 2026. Learn more on our Pets webpage.

Ferry Alert

In June 2025, we began a seismic retrofit project at the Kingston Ferry Terminal. Construction will last through July 2026. Ferry service will operate as normal, except for a delay of 20-30 minutes on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays for the 9:40 p.m. Kingston to Edmonds departure. This delay may also affect later sailings.

Ferry Alert

Prepare for possible travel delays if your weekday ferry plans include crossing the State Route 104 Hood Canal Bridge. Starting Monday, April 13, WSDOT crews will conduct a series of inspections at the bridge. The bridge will close twice each weekday at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. through Friday, April 24. Each closure may last up to one hour, but every effort will be made to keep closures as short as possible.

Due to a power outage affecting Anacortes, Shaw, Lopez, Orcas and Friday Harbor, customers can expect delays on the route until power has been restored. Reservation holders who do not travel today will not receive a no-show fee.

As of March 28, the 90-vehicle Sealth is running as the #2 vessel for about three weeks. This change is due to scheduled vessel maintenance, repairs, and inspections. In late April, we expect a larger vessel to return to service as the #2 vessel. Vehicle reservations have been adjusted to avoid overloading vessels. UPDATE 11 a.m. - Due to high volumes of customers booking reservations this morning, our system was running slower than usual. These issues have been resolved. If you experienced errors earlier, please try again. Vehicle reservations for the summer 2026 sailing season (June 14 through Sept. 19) opened at 10 a.m., on Tuesday, April 14. For the Anacortes/San Juan Islands, the two-week and two-day reservation releases will remain at 7 a.m. The summer 2026 sailing schedules are now online: Anacortes/San Juan Islands Port Townsend/Coupeville To ensure a smooth and fair experience during this high-demand period, we will continue using a virtual waiting room during the reservations release. Ferry Alert

As of Saturday, April 4, the Fauntleroy/Vashon/Southworth route is running a two-boat schedule with a third, unscheduled boat for about two weeks. The Salish is running as the third, unscheduled vessel to help move additional traffic and keep the #1 Kittitas and #2 Cathlamet on schedule. The route will return to its regular three-boat schedule by late April when we have another vessel repaired and returned to service.

From Monday, April 6 through Friday, April 17, there may be occasional lane closures at our Seattle terminal (Colman Dock) during off-peak travel times for sign installation work. An area on exterior of the terminal building may also be closed at times.
